The Gypsies

He met a gypsy once; and instantly fell for her charm and grace. She let him know that gypsies can’t lose their heart to one place and she wouldn’t lose hers to him. He didn’t need her to state the obvious. He promised to win her over one day.

She met a gypsy once; and she knew he was yet another heart breaker. He let her know about his feelings for her and said he was sincere. She didn’t need another man to lure her and hurt her again. She promised to break his heart before he played with hers.

The Slums Appall Me

There were twenty one people in the room, ten by twelve. You could smell the liquor and tobacco in the air, that is, if you were able to breathe. Right outside, you would find a person relieving himself. If the hygiene in the room was questionable, the street in front of the house was strewn with litter, and even an old sofa that looked like it was dropped from thirty feet. You could see them cook, out in the open, relishing the late spring evening and the refuse they disposed right there.

The six storey building was no mere shanty. On the bright side, the house party had some colorful conversations. From freshman to post docs, they would eventually discuss the state of third world countries and those appalling slums. After all, the first world finds as much relevance in the topic as the third world.

Al's Wish

Al, the Supreme Master of the Universe, found a magic lamp. The gin was unique; he said “I’ll grant you a wish, and only one. It has to be one, that has never been granted before, nor ever been heard of.”

Al, who prided in his Wisdom of Solomon, finally found the unique wish. He commanded, “I wish I could hear myself the way others would.” Abracadabra and with a “your wish is my command”, the gin bestowed the gift.

Sadly, this is the story of how Al, the Supreme master of the Universe, lost his supremacy and sanity.

Between Sexes

They had only met and he was into her. Her number was on Facebook. He decided to flirt a bit; he would go for the scare.

“I know what you did last summer.” He texted. “How do you know about the operation?” read the reply.

In hindsight, he did figure she had a husky voice.

The Last Note

“I have decided to emancipate myself from this world. If taking my life is the solution, so be it.”

A bullet from the gun lying in his hand did just that. Limbo allowed him to update his last blog. “-Fiction”, He tried narrating the real tale using the last word from his twenty words limit.

Children of Solitude

She approached him with trembling hands. She was not an extrovert; confidence was not her forte. Her loneliness was killing her; she had stopped caring about the conventions of the pretentious high headed world.

Her ‘Hi’ and a smile was acknowledged with a grunt. He wasn’t the friendliest man, yet she craved for his company. “Can I join you.” She asked. He gestured towards the empty seat on the bench. She held his hand as they watched the sunset together.

It was time to leave. The attendees wrapped them with shawls and led them back to the old age home.

Make Your Bed

Usually I slept like a baby. Not tonight though. But I was lying there, trying hard.

“So what’s new in the two-head world”, she asked. I found her impropriety a charm. Gender notwithstanding, best friends shouldn’t have to watch their mouth. “The usual; class, practice and a ride home with the filthiest mouth in town.” I had a few wisecracks up my sleeve too. “You jocks don’t gossip in the showers?” She was good. “Only one head operates under a cold shower”, I retorted, “The new guy was screaming your name though.” Maybe the last line was completely unwarranted. But she did not take offense.

You sometimes wonder if words should be processed through a simulator before they exit your mouth. She was out on a date with the new guy; I had made my bed and I was lying in it now.

P.S: I is not I; an experiment with POV story telling.

Another Day At The Office.

“What a nut!” the young apprentice fumed as he took his seat. “Now, now; I’m sure you knew you’d find such people here.” mocked the senior. “Well yeah. But this guy is ridiculous. He thinks the world is conspiring against him!” the fellow harped on. “Son, I’ve seen worse here. This is an institution after all.” Their focus shifted to the monitor.

The nurse came in with the medication. A Beautiful Mind was paused as the patients swallowed their pills grudgingly.
